Partners and projects

Teknikens Hus is a non-profit foundation

At Teknikens Hus, we aim to spark kid’s and young people's curiosity for technology, mathematics and natural sciences. In the long term, we do it to contribute to regional growth and vitality. We do it together with our collaborative partners. Or our stars, as we also call them.

The story of Teknikens Hus

The story of Teknikens Hus began with a woman named Ann-Marie Israelsson. Her vision was to attract more students to apply to Luleå University of Technology. She had heard of a "technology center" where children and young people could experiment and experience. She realized that it was important to spark an interest in science and technology at an early age, so she started a test operation for preschool children in an apartment. It was very successful, and with the university as a base, Ann-Marie eventually began to look for smart, driven people who wanted to contribute to developing the center with her. And more people came! The mining and energy companies LKAB, SSAB and Vattenfall contributed with large and important fundings. Luleå municipality, the County Administrative Board, and the Einar and Ragnhild Lundström Foundation also contributed greatly. This was the beginning of the foundation that Teknikens Hus is today. The construction began in the spring of 1987, and on May 27th 1988, Teknikens Hus opened.
